Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre has on Monday presided over a handover ceremony at the Ministry of Defense where the new Somali National Army Chief, Gen. Odowa Yusuf Rage was taking over responsibility from his predecessor, Ibrahim Sheikh Muhudin.
The Prime Minister stressed that the forces liberated many areas from Al-Shabaab in the past two years and at sametime, the government delivered basic services to the communities into those areas, saying tha the new army chief is required to speed up the fight against Al-Shabaab.
Hamza stated that the country made developments including lifting arms embargo, joining the East African Community and becoming a member of the United Nations Security Council.
