Izmir, Turkey — The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor, met with his Turkish counterpart, Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler, during the prestigious EFES-2024 military exhibition held in Izmir, Turkey. The meeting aimed to enhance defense relations between the two nations.
The event, which featured participation from forces representing 49 countries allied with Turkey, provided a platform for high-level discussions on security cooperation. Both officials emphasized the critical role played by Turkey in supporting the development of the Somali National Army and combating extremist threats.
“Our Turkish brothers have been instrumental in advancing our armed forces, contributing to their growth, and aiding in the fight against Khawarij extremism,” stated Minister Noor.
Turkey’s commitment extends beyond military matters. The Turkish government has actively participated in infrastructure development, counterterrorism efforts, and humanitarian initiatives in Somalia.
As the two nations continue to collaborate, their partnership remains pivotal in ensuring regional stability and security.
