Rotation of 8 elective Senior leadership posts decided in AU Executive Council Meeting

The recently concluded Executive Council Ministerial meeting of the African Union decided as follows in regard to regional rotation of the 8 elective posts of the Senior Leadership of the AU Commission.

1. The ๐„๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง region shall submit candidates for the position of the ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ข๐ซ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง.

2. The ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ง region shall submit candidates for the position of the ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ข๐ซ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง.

Both regions can submit Male and female candidates. The gender of the elected Chairperson will determine the gender of the Deputy Chairperson to be elected.

3. The ๐–๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง, ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ง regions will submit candidates for the remaining posts of ๐Ÿ” ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ taking into account gender balance. Re-election is open for eligible candidates and posts.
