Mogadishu, [SONNA] – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre of the Federal Republic Government of Somalia received in his office Mr. Atul Khare, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations in charge of supporting operations, where they had a pivotal meeting aimed at strengthening UN support for Somalia.
The discussion focused at the vital aspects of security, political dynamics, and the augmentation of the UN’s assistance to the Somali government and its citizens. Key among the deliberations was the strategic plan to empower the Somali army to assume full security responsibilities by the end of this year 2024.
In recognition of his dedicated efforts towards peace and stability, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre was honored with a certificate of distinction by the UN Deputy Secretary General. Expressing gratitude, the Prime Minister thanked the United Nations for its unwavering support in safeguarding Somalia’s independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
