Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Federal Government of Somalia received weapons and military support from the United States (U.S.) to strengthen the Somali National Army’s fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdikadir Mohamed Nur received the Military consignment from Tim Trenkle who is the chargé d’affaires of the US embassy in Somalia.
The Minister was accompanied by the Commander of SNA, General Odewa Yusuf Rage, and they both commended the support of the United States in the fight against the terrorist militia in Somalia.
Minister Abdikadir said, “the weapons and ammunition received today from our U.S. partners will be used in the ongoing against the ‘Khawarij’ and the continued support from partners remains crucial to winning this fight against Al-Shabaab”.
The Commander of the Somali National Army pointed out that the support of the US government is not only limited to the support they provided but also sacrifice their lives for the Somali people.
