Mogadishu (SONNA)-Banaadir administration called for an emergency meeting to discuss the deteriorating security situation and held a meeting that was chaired by the deputy mayor who is also the acting mayor,Mr Ahmed Hassan Iman,SONNA reported.
This high level meeting was attended by the deputy mayor in charge of general works, director general of Banadir security, all district commissioners and heads of different law enforcement agencies.
Banaadir region has been host to a surge in terror related crimes in recent days. Attacks from the terror group Al-Shabaab has increased with the most recent one being the attack on the popular sea front luxury Hotel Elite. 11 people lost their lives on that fateful evening including the director of regional coordination from the ministry of information, culture and tourism.
The officials discussed how to step up the activities of the security agencies and establish proper coordination in order to restore total calm in the capital. Security experts called for thorough and extensive neighborhood sweeps and vehicle searches in the capital.
They urged the public to work hand in hand with the security personnel in order to safe guard the lives of innocent people.
