Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a successful operation conducted by local forces, a key Al-Shabaab leader, Mirre Cagdheer, along with two other operatives, was killed in Ceelgaras village, Galgaduud region. The planned operation targeted key positions and hideouts of Al-Shabaab militants in the area.
The raid also left six others wounded, including the local leader of Ceelgaras, known as Abuu Salmaan, and Jabriil, who was identified as Al-Shabaab’s financial head in the region.
Mohamed Farah Geeddi, who led the operation, told state media that the wounded militants were transported by their allies to Galhareeri town in the Galgaduud region for treatment. He confirmed that Somali security forces are now in pursuit of the remaining militants who fled the area, ensuring they are unable to regroup or establish new positions.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Somali security forces and local militias to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s strongholds and restore stability in Galgaduud.
