UNA and Sputnik organize a workshop on photo reportage for media outlets

Jeddah (UNA) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) organized on Wednesday (April 9, 2025), a workshop titled “Photo Reportage for Media Outlets: Understanding How to Shoot, Key Elements, and Common Mistakes”, in cooperation with the Russian news and radio agency Sputnik, and with the participation of more than 200 media professionals from around the world.
At the beginning of the workshop, UNA Director-General Mr. Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al-Yami emphasized that the workshop aims to enhance journalists’ awareness of the correct methods for capturing outstanding shots and producing a complete photo report. He stressed the importance of images in persuasion, information completion, and documentation. He also expressed his thanks to Sputnik for its efforts in organizing the workshop and sharing its expertise with journalists in member states.

The workshop addressed some common drawbacks among those interested in photography and ways to overcome them. It also discussed errors that could weaken a photo report and how photographers can choose the right angles while working on visual stories across various media platforms to enhance the quality and creativity of their work.
It is worth noting that the workshop is part of a series of training and educational programs organized by UNA to build the capacity of journalists in member states and increase their awareness of the rapid transformations in media content production.
