MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe), met with officials from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) to discuss preparations for the upcoming spring rainy season.

In attendance were Mr. Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, Chairman of SoDMA, and Mr. A/khadir Sharif Shikuna, Adviser for the Prevention of Diversion of Aid. The Chairman briefed the Speaker on the agency’s strategies to expedite national initiatives and ensure efficient aid distribution amidst the impending rains.

With the spring season approaching, concerns about flooding and the displacement of populations are on the rise. SoDMA is proactively issuing warnings and educating the public about regions at risk of typhoon damage.
Governor Sheikh Adan Madobe commended SoDMA’s efforts in assisting the Somali community and directed the agency to issue alerts while also focusing on the safety and protection of those susceptible to natural disasters.
SoDMA’s proactive approach is a testament to Somalia’s commitment to protecting its citizens from the unpredictable nature of seasonal changes and potential disasters.
