Doha, SONNA – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre met with Qatar’s chief of the armed forces Salem bin Hamad Al Nabit and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry leaders in Doha on Wednesday, where he discussed ways to enhance cooperation in security and trade between the two countries.

The Prime Minister thanked Qatar for its continuous role in rebuilding Somalia’s forces and supporting its fight against al-Shabaab terrorists, who have been threatening the stability and development of the country for over a decade. He said that Somalia has achieved great success in combating terrorism, and praised Qatar for being a reliable partner and a friend of Somalia.

The Commander expressed his admiration for the Somali government’s effective achievements in the fight against al-Shabaab, and promised to continue its support and cooperation with Somalia’s security agencies. He said that Qatar is committed to enhancing the stability and development of Somalia, and to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also met with prominent figures from the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he discussed promising opportunities for strategic investments in vital sectors such as energy, infrastructure and food security. He said that Somalia offers a fertile ground for investment.

The meeting also covered various fields of cooperation, such as education, health, and culture. The two sides agreed to work together to promote peace and prosperity in Somalia and the region.
