Mogadishu, Somalia – In a heartfelt address following Friday prayers at the Presidential Mosque in Villa Somalia, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud outlined the significant strides the nation has made under his leadership, while also acknowledging the ongoing challenges.

Key Achievements and Initiatives

The President highlighted five critical areas of focus for his government:

  1. Debt Forgiveness: Efforts to alleviate the nation’s financial burdens have seen success, easing economic pressures.
  2. Regional Integration: Somalia has taken a pivotal step by joining the East African Economic Cooperation, signaling a commitment to regional economic stability and collaboration.
  3. Constitutional Reform: The administration is dedicated to replacing the provisional KMG constitution with an official one, marking a milestone in Somalia’s governance.
  4. Combatting Extremism: A relentless campaign against the Khawarij aims to secure peace and stability throughout the country.
  5. Lifting Sanctions: The international community’s removal of sanctions reflects the progress Somalia has made on the world stage.

A Call to Action

President Mohamud emphasized the importance of continuing the fight against the Khawarij to ensure a liberated and peaceful Somalia. He also stressed the need for a formal constitution to solidify the nation’s legal framework and promote democracy.

As Somalia navigates these transformative times, President Mohamud’s leadership remains a beacon of hope for a nation eager to reclaim its place in the global community. The President’s speech resonates with a clear message: Somalia is on the rise, and its journey towards prosperity and stability is well underway.
