Baghdad (SONNA) – The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, currently on a working visit to Baghdad, Iraq, held a significant meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Saleh Mehdi Al-Hasnawi, to discuss enhanced health cooperation between the two nations.
Accompanied by the First Deputy Chief of Staff and Acting Ambassador of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Iraq, His Excellency Abdifatah Sheikh Ahmed, Dr. Adam emphasized the importance of exchanging medical expertise and supporting the training of Somali doctors. This proposal was warmly received by Dr. Al-Hasnawi, who assured that the Iraqi government would expedite efforts to provide scholarships for Somali doctors.
Dr. Ali Haji Adam expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi government for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their stay in Iraq. He also commended Iraq for hosting the 61st session of the Arab Health Ministers’ Conference, highlighting the event’s significance in advancing health cooperation across the Arab world.
The meeting marks an important step towards strengthening health ties between Somalia and Iraq. The commitment of the Iraqi government to support the training of Somali doctors is seen as a vital move to improve the quality of healthcare professionals in Somalia.
