Washington, D.C. – SONNA – April 2025 — The Director General of the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Mohamed H. Shire, was part of the official Somali delegation attending the 2025 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
Representing Somalia, Mr. Shire participated in a high-level session of the African Consultative Group (ACG), held under the theme “Strengthening Africa’s Resilience.” The session was opened by the IMF Managing Director, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, and brought together senior officials from across the African continent.
Key topics discussed during the consultative session included:
- The economic challenges impacting African economies;
- Strengthening regional trade and economic integration;
- Enhancing financial resilience in light of global economic shifts.
