Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Somalia’s Federal Government (FGS) has embarked on discussions with the United Nations to plan an orderly transition from a special political mission to a UN Country Team (UNCT) structure. This collaborative effort signifies a new chapter in Somalia’s development journey.
The process began yesterday in Mogadishu with a historic first meeting between technical teams from both the FGS and UNSOM. These initial discussions are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with the goal of establishing a clear timeline for a gradual and orderly transition. This move reflects Somalia’s progress and growing self-reliance.
