Mogadishu (SONNA) – In a recent military operation conducted by the Somali National Army (SNA) with the backing of international partners, a significant blow has been dealt to the Al-Shabaab extremist group. The operation resulted in the elimination of 20 militants in the outskirts of Baladul Amin district, located in the Lower Shabelle region.

The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of FGS Daud Aweis Jama, confirmed the successful operation and provided details on the significant achievements. Speaking at a joint meeting held at the Ministry of Information, attended by Mohamed El-Amine Souef, Special Representative to Somalia and Head of the AU Transition Mission (ATMIS), Minister Jama emphasized the importance of the operation in countering the extremist threat.

During the meeting, Minister Aweis expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and collaboration of international partners in the fight against terrorism. He stated that the operation was a joint effort to eradicate the Al-Shabaab menace and ensure the safety and security of the Somali people.

The military operation specifically targeted the hideout of the Al-Shabaab extremists in the Baladul Amin district. The well-coordinated assault resulted in the neutralization of 20 militants who posed a significant threat to the region’s stability.

The operation’s success can be attributed to the collective efforts of the Somali National Army and the collaboration with international partners.

The Somali National Army has been actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations to root out the Al-Shabaab insurgency, which has plagued the country for years.

With the support of AMISOM and other international allies, Somalia has made significant strides in dismantling the extremist group and restoring peace and stability to the region.

The successful operation in Baladul Amin district sends a clear message that the Somali government and its partners remain committed to eradicating terrorism and protecting the Somali people. The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism further assured that similar operations will continue to be conducted to ensure the complete eradication of the Al-Shabaab menace from Somalia.

The Somali National Army’s determination, coupled with the support of international allies, serves as a beacon of hope in the fight against terrorism. The Somali government remains resolute in its mission to create a secure and prosperous future for its citizens, free from the threats of extremist groups like Al-Shabaab.
