Mogadishu — The Somali National Army (SNA), particularly the Gorgor unit under the 203rd Battalion, 20th Brigade, 1st Division, has carried out intensive security and clearance operations in several areas of the Lower Shabelle region.
The operations took place in Ay-buuteey, Jowhara, Awdheegle, Aseenda Buube, and surrounding areas in eastern Lower Shabelle, where troops conducted thorough searches to enhance security and stabilize the region.
During the operations, forces carried out targeted inspections in residential neighborhoods, focusing on locations suspected of being used as hideouts by Al-Shabaab terrorists. Officials said the operations were intelligence-led and aimed at disrupting militant activity in the area.
The troops also destroyed a number of sites used as shelters by the group, further weakening their presence.
The Somali National Army has recently intensified operations aimed at eliminating Al-Shabaab terrorists from key areas in southern Somalia.
