In a historic visit, the Commander of the Somali Military Forces, S/Gaas Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin Addow, accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking officers, arrived in the ancient district of Harardere. This marks the first time a Commander of the National Army has set foot in Harardere since the nation’s collapse.
The district of Harardere, which was liberated from enemy control on January 16, 2023, is currently under the joint administration of the Somali Military Forces and local militia forces. The Commander’s visit was met with a warm reception from both officers and soldiers of the Somali National Army.
During his stay, Commander Addow has been actively engaging with troops stationed at the front lines. His presence serves as a morale booster for the forces as they continue their efforts to pursue the remnants of the terrorist group that once held sway over the area.
The Commander’s frontline involvement underscores the ongoing commitment of the Somali Military Forces to secure and stabilize the region. With preparations in full swing, the focus remains on the liberation of the remaining front areas, signaling a new chapter in the nation’s fight against terrorism.
For the people of Harardere and the Somali National Army, the Commander’s visit is not only a symbol of military support but also a beacon of hope for a peaceful and sovereign future.
