Bosaso – The Federal Government of Somalia, in partnership with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), carried out a targeted airstrike against ISIS militants southeast of Bosaso, Puntland State.
According to an official statement, the precision strike targeted ISIS leaders and militias who were gathering in the area, supporting Puntland’s Dervish Army efforts to eliminate the extremist group. Initial assessments indicate that multiple ISIS operatives were neutralized, with no civilian casualties reported.
The Federal Government of Somalia, alongside its international partners, remains steadfast in its commitment to combating terrorism and eliminating threats posed by ISIS and Al-Shabaab. Collaborative security operations will continue to safeguard Somalia’s stability and protect its citizens from extremist violence.
