The Somali National Army (SNA) and the Darawish forces of the Jubbaland State have been providing relief to the people living in the Afmadow district, which has been hit by heavy floods.
According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the forces have distributed essential items such as food, water, blankets and medicine to the affected people in the city. They have also increased the security and participated in the rescue of the people who were trapped by the floods or injured by the severe flooding.
The Afmadow district is one of the areas under the administration of Jubbaland, a federal member state of Somalia. The district has been facing recurrent floods due to the seasonal rains that cause the Juba river to overflow.
The National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) of Somalia has also provided relief to some of the regions in the country that have been affected by the floods. The SoDMA has appealed for more support from the international community and humanitarian organizations to help the flood victims.
