Mogadishu, (SONNA):- The Speaker of the Somali Parliament and Acting President, Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe), met with the outgoing Turkish ambassador to Somalia, Mr. İbrahim Mete Yağli, on Thursday to express his gratitude and appreciation for his service.

Mr. Madobe praised Mr. Yağli for his diplomatic efforts in strengthening the cooperation and friendship between Somalia and Turkey, and for his support in the fight against the Kharijite groups, a term used to refer to the militant group Al-Shabaab.

He also wished him success in his future endeavors and hoped that the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to grow and flourish.

Mr. Yağli thanked Mr. Madobe for his hospitality and cooperation, and said that he was honored to serve as the Turkish envoy to Somalia. He said that he witnessed the remarkable progress and resilience of the Somali people, and that he will always remain a friend and advocate of Somalia.

He also expressed his confidence that the Turkish government and people will continue to stand by Somalia in its quest for peace, stability and development.

Turkey and Somalia have enjoyed close and cordial relations since 2011, when Turkey became one of the first countries to provide humanitarian and development assistance to Somalia during the famine crisis. Turkey has also been involved in various sectors in Somalia, such as health, education, infrastructure, security and trade.
