Mogadishu, SONNA — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has received a substantial food donation of 700 tons from the United Arab Emirates, delivered by UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi. This critical aid is aimed at supporting vulnerable communities severely impacted by the ongoing drought.
SoDMA has promptly begun distributing the donation, with 300 tons already sent to Kismayo and 200 tons to Bosaso. These shipments will provide immediate relief to affected individuals in these cities and surrounding areas. An additional 200 tons, intended for Banadir and other relief regions, has been securely stored in the Agency’s warehouses for efficient distribution.
Commissioner Mahmuud Moalim Abdulle expressed deep gratitude to the UAE government for its unwavering support to the Somali people during challenging times. He highlighted SoDMA’s commitment to mitigating the effects of the drought and ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.
This donation reinforces the ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the UAE in addressing humanitarian needs and fostering resilience in vulnerable communities.
