Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moalim Abdulle together with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), George Conway arrived in Beledweyn town.
The Commissioner, his delegation and the UNSOM representative were received by officials led by the Governor of Beledweyn, Abdullahi Ahmed Sufurow at the Ugaas Khalif airport, and they later had a meeting with the Vice President of Hirshabelle State, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar.
The officials were briefed on the situation of the town including the recovery of the blast caused by the terrorist militants and the refugee status.
The purpose of the visit was to inspect the town, its people and the humanitarian needs required to shelter against the El Nino issues and to provide awareness to the people on the anticipation of heavy rains, and floods that may cause people to relocate.
