Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with international partners, has carried out a carefully coordinated airstrike operation targeting key Al-Shabaab militant facilities in Jilib, Middle Jubba region. The operation struck several high-value targets, including the district headquarters, the group’s so-called “military command center,” two training and explosives-making facilities, as well as two residences belonging to senior commanders Hassan Yaqoub and Amin.
The airstrikes successfully destroyed all targeted locations, inflicting heavy casualties on the militants, including deaths and injuries among their ranks. The government is currently conducting a thorough assessment to determine the full extent of the damage.
Moreover, the SNA and international partners conducted further airstrikes on Al-Shabaab’s major strongholds in El-Bacad, located at the border of Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions, and Mubarak in the Lower Shabelle region, dealing another blow to the group’s operational capacity.
The Somali National Army, supported by its international allies and the courageous Somali people, remains committed to intensifying the fight against al-Shabaab until every inch of Somali soil is liberated from their grip.
Public Advisory: The Somali government urges civilians to avoid areas where Al-Shabaab militants are hiding, as these locations remain active targets in ongoing operations.
