Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Somalia Frontline States Summit in which President Hassan Sh. Mohamud hosted the regional leaders from Djibouti, Kenya and Ethiopia Wednesday on strengthening security, and unity for final push against Al-Shabaab, got wider attention and support locally and internationally.

The U.S Embassy in Mogadishu congratulated President Hassan’s leadership on holding such summit for the region, together with President Ismael Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, Kenyan President, William Ruto and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed and their unity for a final push to liberate the whole of Somalia from terrorist violence and extortion, and increase security for all east Africa.

Former Hirshabelle President, Mohamed Abdi Ware said on Twitter post that the leaders were wise to agree to a common strategy in the final push phases of the fight.

Rahid Abdi, regional Security analyst also expressed his appreciation to the summit and its outcome. “I commend Somalia and regional states for agreeing sensible steps to collectively prevent Al-Shabaab from regrouping”, He said on Twitter Post.

The leaders underscored the importance of establishing a joint border security mechanism that intended to eliminate cross-border terrorism activities and ensured legal passage of trade and movement while expressing full commitment and support Somali National Army (SNA) forces-led operations across the sectors, to defeat and destroy the terrorist group.
