Mogadishu, 12th January 2023: The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said Kharijites Al Shabab terrorists’ era of destruction and bloodshed is over thanks to the powerful collaboration between the government forces and citizens who remain united and resolute in ridding the country of the dreadful menace.

Addressing thousands of Mogadishu residents who gathered at Eng. Yarisow Football Stadium in the capital Mogadishu during the unveiling of The Popular Resistance Campaign against the Kharijites, the President urged the residents to identify and report to the authorities any suspects that have links to or are members of the Kharijites group, a move he said will help the government to succeed in its campaign against the terrorists once and for all.

At the same time, President Mohamud also urged citizens to report any neglect or wrongdoings committed by the security forces so they too can be held accountable for their actions and guarantee the success of the crucial operation.

The President also warned citizens against providing financial support for the group’s illicit activities, adding that the government will soon publish a report about bank accounts that were closed due to their use by Al-Shabaab militants and their accomplices. Amidst cheers and resounding support for their government’s ongoing offensive, the President said the military operations will continue until this menace is completely eradicated from Somalia, allowing the country to begin focusing on stability and development.

The President concluded by sending a strong message to the army and anyone who commits crimes against the people, saying that the rule of law will prevail, and no one will be spared. He wished citizens good tidings of peace, unity and prosperity in the new year and the future.

Since assuming power on 15th May last year, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud focused on the fight against Al Shabab on three fronts: Military, ideology and illicit finances used by the terrorists.
