Mogadishu, December 07, 2023; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, welcomed the new Italian ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, where he received his credentials.
The new ambassador, who expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, congratulated the government and people of Somalia on the historic achievement of lifting the arms embargo and commended the progress made in the fight against the extremists in the country.
The President of the Republic and the Ambassador discussed the enhancement of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and Italy, and the President emphasized the importance of continuing to support the Somali government and its people in the fight against terrorism.
