Warmly greeted by Galmudug Regional State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye and Vice President Ali Dahir Eid, along with the esteemed Speaker and Members of the Parliament of Galmudug, President Mohamud’s arrival underscores the united front against extremism. The President has taken the extraordinary step of temporarily relocating his office to Dhuusamareeb, where he will lead operations in the days to come, symbolizing his administration’s dedication to completing the first phase of the operation against Al-Shabaab.
Since his re-election last year, President Mohamud has spearheaded a comprehensive two-phase counterterrorism operation. The successful culmination of phase one saw the liberation of both Hirshabelle State and Galmudug State, a significant stride toward curbing the influence of Al-Shabaab in the region.
