Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended the Somali National Army on their successful operations against the Al-Shabaab terrorists in areas under Jubaland State showing the strength of the army and their dedication to eliminate the enemy from the country.

President Hassan Sheikh also praised the army for going against the terrorist militants who tried to attack Bulo-Haji and Harbolle areas, and said that the victory of the army indicates the weakening of the militants and the strength and might of the army.

In a series of coordinated operations conducted west and south of Kismayo, Lower Juba region, Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with Jubaland Dervishes, successfully neutralised a significant number of Al-Shabaab militants. Acting on credible intelligence, our brave forces launched three separate attacks, demonstrating unwavering resolve in the fight against terrorism.

The results of these operations are as follows:

Harbole: 25 militants killed, 30+ injured, 7 captured.
Mido:  7 militants killed, 12+ injured.
Bulo Haji: 50 militants killed, 60+ injured, 15 captured.

In total, more than 80 Al-Shabaab fighters were eliminated, and a substantial cache of weapons was seized. The forces are in hot pursuit of the remaining terrorist escapees who will ultimately meet their fate. These successful operations dealt a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s capabilities in the region.

The Ministry of Defence commends the courage and dedication of the SNA and Jubaland Darwish forces. Their tireless efforts are instrumental in safeguarding the security and stability of Somalia. We remain steadfast in our commitment to eradicating the threat of terrorism and creating a peaceful future for all Somalis.
