Riyadh, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently addressed the Saudi-Africa Cooperation Forum, where he touched on several pivotal topics, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and peace. A key highlight of his speech was the call for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. President Mohamud expressed a strong commitment to supporting peace efforts in the region, advocating for a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine can coexist peacefully side by side. This stance reflects Somalia’s dedication to fostering global peace and stability.

In his address, President Mohamud also pledged humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people, showcasing Somalia’s solidarity with those affected by the conflict. This gesture is a significant move, representing Somalia’s increasing role in international humanitarian efforts and its dedication to supporting populations in crisis.

Furthermore, President Mohamud underscored the deep historical bonds and multifaceted cooperation between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). He highlighted the vital contributions made by KSA to Somalia, particularly in its ongoing war against the terror group Al-Shabab. This acknowledgment showcases the strategic partnership between the two nations, especially in combating terrorism and fostering regional security.

The President’s speech at the forum was a significant moment, demonstrating Somalia’s active role in promoting peace and cooperation on the international stage and reinforcing its strategic partnerships, especially with key allies like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
