National Army Kills 41 Khawarij in Airstrikes

Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA) and the National Intelligence Agency (NISA) conducted coordinated airstrikes in the Middle and Lower Shabelle regions. The operations, which took place in the Boos-Hareeri and Jambaluul areas, resulted in the deaths of 41 Khawarij members, including key leaders and militias.

The airstrikes, carried out today, targeted strongholds of the extremist group, which has been responsible for numerous attacks on civilians and security forces in the region. According to military officials, the operations were meticulously planned and executed, with intelligence reports indicating the presence of high-ranking Khawarij leaders in the targeted areas.

“The Somali National Army, in collaboration with NISA, has successfully neutralized 41 Khawarij militants, including several of their leaders, in precise airstrikes,” said a spokesperson for the SNA. “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and restore peace and stability to our nation.”

The Boos-Hareeri area in the Middle Shabelle region and Jambaluul in the Lower Shabelle region have been hotspots for extremist activities, with the Khawarij using these areas as bases to launch attacks on government forces and civilians. The successful airstrikes are expected to disrupt the group’s operations and weaken their capacity to carry out further attacks.

The Somali government has reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of its citizens. “We will not rest until every last extremist is removed from our soil,” said a government official. “The Somali people deserve to live in peace, and we will continue to take all necessary measures to achieve that goal.”

The airstrikes mark a significant victory for the Somali National Army and its allies in the fight against extremism. However, officials have cautioned that the battle is far from over, and have called for continued vigilance and support from the international community.

As the Somali government intensifies its efforts to combat terrorism, the successful operation in Boos-Hareeri and Jambaluul serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of the Somali people and their armed forces in the face of adversity.
