Mogadishu, SONNA, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Mo’allim Fiqi, has addressed a tragic incident that occurred near Nosy Iranja in Madagascar. He revealed that two boats carrying a significant number of Somali nationals capsized. The first boat had 32 passengers onboard, of whom 9 tragically lost their lives, while the second boat carried 38 passengers, with 15 unfortunately perishing.

The Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. He reassured the public that the Somali government is collaborating with relevant international authorities to ensure the safe return of the survivors.

Furthermore, the Minister urged Somali youth to recognize the severe risks associated with illegal migration. He emphasized the dangers of sea crossings and the challenges linked to unsafe and unlawful travel, encouraging the youth to prioritize their safety and seek opportunities within the country.
