Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Family and Human Rights of Somalia, H.E Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held a consultative meeting with various civil society organizations in Somalia. The session, which served as both an introduction and a dialogue, was attended by the State Minister of Family and Human Rights, Mohamed Osman Nastaro, the ministry’s Director-General, Mohamed Bashir Omar, and other officials from the ministry.
Civil society representatives at the meeting expressed their appreciation for the invitation and the opportunity to collaborate with the ministry. They commended the appointment of Minister Al-Makhzoumi and pledged their full support in achieving the ministry’s goals, particularly in strengthening human rights and advancing family welfare across the nation.
Minister Al-Makhzoumi, in her remarks, thanked the civil society members for their warm reception and valuable input. She outlined the ministry’s key priorities, focusing on enhancing human rights protections and family support systems in Somalia. The minister emphasized the importance of empowering women and facilitating their participation in vital national roles, such as leadership and the upcoming one-person-one-vote elections, as part of a broader effort to promote inclusivity and equality.
This meeting is part of a series of consultative engagements initiated by Minister Al-Makhzoumi with various segments of society. In a prior session, she engaged with Somali women leaders to discuss their contributions to national development and their role in fostering inclusivity in decision-making processes.
