LAASCAANOOD, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, alongside SSC-Khaatumo Administration Leader, H.E. Abdulqadir Aw-Ali (Firdiye), today laid the foundation stone for major development projects in the Sool region.

Among the key projects launched is the construction of a new airport in Laascaanood, a vital infrastructure initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity and supporting economic growth. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated an electrification project that will bring power to 45 essential facilities, including schools and health centers—services the local population has long lacked.

“These projects reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development and responding to the pressing needs of communities across all regions,” said Prime Minister Hamza. The initiatives mark a significant step forward in rebuilding public infrastructure and boosting social services in SSC-Khaatumo areas.
