Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Justice and Constitution of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Moallim Mohamud, highlighted Somalia’s growing diplomatic influence during a high-level panel discussion tonight on the country’s renewed bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
The discussion, organized by the Institute of Diplomatic Studies (IDS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, focused on Somalia’s role in enhancing global security and the potential impact of its membership in the Security Council.
“Somalia has made significant strides in strengthening its international relations,” said Minister Hassan Moallim, emphasizing the importance of Somalia formally taking a seat at the global decision-making table. He added that the country’s growing participation in shaping international policies would be a crucial step toward enhancing its global reputation and influence.
Also present at the event were H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, and Ambassador Yusuf Garaad Omar, who echoed the sentiment, acknowledging Somalia’s diplomatic progress and its commitment to contributing to global peace and security.
The panel underscored Somalia’s ambition to play a greater role on the world stage through active participation in global security discussions and decision-making processes.
