The Jubaland Regional Government held a cabinet meeting today, chaired by President Ahmed Mohamed Islam, to address various issues affecting the region.

One of the main topics of discussion was the FGM bill, which was submitted by the Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights in Jubaland. The bill aims to outlaw the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), which is prevalent in some parts of Somalia. The cabinet debated the legal and social implications of the bill, as well as the challenges of enforcing it.

The cabinet also heard reports from other ministries, such as the Ministry of Interior, Federalization and Reconciliation, which presented the results of its work trip to Dhobley District. The trip was part of the ministry’s efforts to foster dialogue and cooperation among the local communities and authorities.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Jubaland reported on the progress of the third phase of the Water Service Contract Program, which is a partnership between the ministry and private water providers. The program aims to improve the access and quality of water services in the region, especially in rural areas.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Jubaland reported on the reform of the Jubaland football association, which is undergoing a restructuring process to enhance its governance and performance. The ministry also highlighted its initiatives to promote sports and physical activities among the youth, as well as to support talented athletes.

The cabinet meeting was part of the Jubaland government’s regular consultations to review its policies and programs, and to address the needs and aspirations of the people of Jubaland.
