Humanitarian Relief Reaches Displaced Families in Eji

In a tragic turn of events, the Eji area, located on the contentious border between the Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions, has been engulfed in flames due to ongoing clan conflicts. The conflagration has led to the complete loss of property and livelihoods for the local families, leaving them in dire need of assistance.

Responding to this calamity, the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) of Somalia has mobilized a relief operation, sending 10 trucks filled with food supplies and tents to aid those affected by the conflict. This humanitarian gesture aims to provide immediate relief to the displaced families and support them in these trying times.

The state minister of humanitarian affairs of Hirshabelle state and the deputy governor of the Middle Shabelle region have taken charge of the distribution process, ensuring that the aid reaches its intended recipients. The support from the brotherly nation of the United Arab Emirates, which provided the aid, has been instrumental in this effort and is deeply appreciated by all stakeholders.

Mr. Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, the Commissioner of SoDMA, has highlighted the critical situation of the displaced people in the country. He stressed the importance of resettling the families, restoring their homes, and addressing the root causes of the clan conflicts to prevent further displacement.

The commitment of SoDMA to the welfare of the displaced families in Eji and the surrounding areas reflects the resilience and solidarity of the Somali people in the face of adversity. The agency continues to prioritize peace and stability as it works towards a long-term solution for the displaced communities.
