Mogadishu(SONNA)-Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi officially accepted the credentials of the new International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission to Somalia, Mr Manuel Marques Pereira, during a meeting focused on strengthening collaboration on key initiatives supporting Somalia’s development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is leading efforts to establish a Diaspora Centre to engage and support over 4 million Somalis living abroad. The Centre will be vital for enhancing diaspora contributions to Somalia’s progress.
The Foreign Minister welcomed IOM’s Stabilization Projects, which align closely with the Ministry’s priorities of reconnecting government services to newly liberated areas from Al-Shabaab.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to leading impactful initiatives that will advance Somalia’s progress. It is pleased to work closely with IOM to realize these shared goals.
