New York, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Mohamud Fiqi, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, in New York. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
During the discussion, Minister Ahmed Attaf congratulated Somalia on its commencement of the two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. He also praised Somalia for joining the A3+ group in the Security Council and commended its growing role in global diplomacy.
The two ministers explored opportunities to deepen collaboration across various sectors, emphasizing the importance of aligning their positions on international platforms to promote shared interests.
