Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia gave held meeting with the Director General of the IMF and the Finance Ministers of the Arab countries that was concluded in Morocco.
“I had a good discussion with @SPimentaIFC @IFC_org‘s Regional Vice President for Africa on the enormous potential for private sector investment in #Somalia. We are improving the investment environment and remain committed to growing our economy to create jobs and opportunities”, Bihi said on X.
The central focus of this gathering was the Inclusive Meetings in Africa, attended by distinguished finance ministers from various African nations and the Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Kristalina Georgieva.
“I am very happy that all the issues we have come to solve have come to fruition, and we have had fruitful meetings and gatherings. By December this year, it will be announced that debts on Somalia will be relieved. We are waiting for results related to our debt forgiveness program from the IMF”, He added.
Somalia is poised to reach a pivotal milestone at the onset of the 12th month in 2023. This coincides with the convening of high-level committees within the World Bank and the IMF, marking the culmination of a significant journey toward debt forgiveness. This development signifies a momentous step forward in Somalia’s pursuit of financial stability and the alleviation of debt burdens that have long constrained the nation’s economic growth.
