Mogadishu, SONNA — The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia has officially appointed a new administration for Waajid district in the Bakool region.
A circular issued by the ministry and dated March 24, 2026, stated that the appointments followed an assessment of the political and security situation in South West Somalia, as well as recommendations from traditional elders in Waajid district.
According to the announcement, the new administration is as follows:
- Hasan Abdi Isak (Bootoole) – District Commissioner
- Mohamed Abdirahman Mohamed (Jugle) – 1st Deputy Commissioner for Security and Politics
- Aden Ali Kulow – 2nd Deputy Commissioner for Social Affairs
- Ayanle Abdi Dhuh Yare – Secretary of the Local Administration
The Ministry directed the appointed officials to immediately assume their duties and work to effectively manage public services and social affairs in the district.
Traditional elders and all stakeholders were also called upon to support the new administration to ensure stability, governance, and development in Waajid district.
The appointment took effect immediately upon signature by the Acting Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh.
