Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Salah Ahmed Jama and the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh attended the Rapid Post Disaster Needs Assessment Conference organised by the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA).
The Rapid Post Disaster Needs Assessment Report (R-PDNA) was opened by the Commissioner of SoDMA, he stated that “Today, we unveil the findings of the R-PDNA for Somalia, conducted in the wake of the devastating Deyr floods of 2023.”
The Commissioner further stated that “This report, is a collaborative effort between the Government of Somalia, the UN in Somalia, the WorldBank , and the EU in Somalia.”
The Deputy DSRSG, George Conway noted that the report will inform recovery efforts of all stakeholders in Somalia, stating that ” This result of this PDNA feeds into other national planning processes, in order to link immediate recovery needs with longer term plans and investment priorities”.
He further stated that, “I would like to thank the Federal Government’s disaster management agency, SoDMA, for their leadership in this PDNA process; in addition to the leadership demonstrated in the emergency responses throughout the Deyr and recent Gu flooding.”
