Somalia Approves Maritime Cooperation Agreement with Egypt

Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Federal Government of Somalia has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Republic of Egypt to strengthen cooperation in the fields of maritime transport and ports.
The agreement was endorsed by the Council of Ministers on Thursday and establishes a framework for cooperation between Egypt's Ministry of Transport and Somalia's Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport.
Minister of Ports and Marine Transport Mohamed Nur welcomed the council's approval, describing the agreement as an important step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector.
"This agreement strengthens international cooperation in maritime transport and ports, advances our strategic priorities, supports the National Transformation Plan (NTP), and reinforces Somalia's growing role in the regional and global maritime sector," the minister said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Council of Ministers for approving the MoU, noting that the partnership is expected to support Somalia's efforts to modernize its maritime infrastructure and expand international collaboration in the ports sector.
