State Minister for Defence Receives African Union Counter-Terrorism Delegation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The State Minister for Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Omar Ali Abdi, today received a delegation from the African Union Counter-Terrorism Centre (AUCTC), led by its Director, Mr Idriss Mounir Lallali.

Discussions focused on strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation, assessing the capabilities and needs of national institutions, and improving coordination of efforts to counter terrorism.

The State Minister emphasised the importance of aligning African Union support with national priorities and Somali-led security and stabilisation efforts. He also highlighted the value of drawing on Somalia’s counter-terrorism experience to strengthen the African Union’s efforts to prevent and combat terrorism.
