Special Forces Conduct Operation in Lower Shabelle

Mogadishu(SONNA)– Somalia's elite Danab Special Forces carried out a planned operation in the Hantiwadaag area of the Lower Shabelle region targeting suspected al-Shabaab fighters, according to the military.

The Danab Command said the operation killed nine al-Shabaab members, including a local commander reportedly hiding in the area.

Military officials said operations against al-Shabaab will continue, adding that the forces remain committed to pursuing the group in areas where it is believed to be operating.

The operation is part of ongoing security efforts by the Somali National Army to target al-Shabaab strongholds in parts of southern Somalia.
