Speaker of the Parliament Meets National Independent Human Rights Commission

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, today received the National Independent Human Rights Commission, led by its Chairperson, H.E. Dr. Maryan Qasim, at his office in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Parliament and the National Independent Human Rights Commission while safeguarding the Commission’s independence in line with the Paris Principles.

The discussions also underscored the importance of regular reporting to Parliament and maintaining a strong, independent national institution dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights across Somalia.
