Speaker of the Parliament Meets Judiciary Committee on Penal Code Bill

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, held a meeting with the House Committee on Judiciary, Endowments and Religious Affairs to discuss the Somali Penal Code Bill currently before Parliament.

The meeting, attended by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, H.E. Hassan Moallin Mohamud, focused on reviewing and modernizing the Penal Code to reflect the country’s social, economic and technological developments and address emerging crimes, particularly those related to technology and information systems.

Speaker Abdulkadir said modernizing the Penal Code is an important step toward strengthening justice, protecting citizens’ rights, maintaining security and public order, and building a legal framework that meets Somalia’s current and future needs.
