DJIBOUTI CITY (SONNA) – The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur (Jama), delivered an address to the National Assembly of Djibouti on Monday during his official visit to the neighbouring country.
Speaking on behalf of Somalia, the Speaker opened his address by conveying a message of brotherhood, gratitude and deep appreciation for the longstanding relations between Somalia and Djibouti, founded on shared ancestry, blood ties, language, culture and common history.
H.E. Abdiqadir said the Somali people would never forget Djibouti’s unwavering support, particularly the historic role played by Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Somalia’s reconciliation efforts, the Arta Peace Conference and the rebuilding of Somali state institutions.
He also praised President Guelleh’s continued support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as the sacrifices made by Djiboutian troops serving under the Hiil Walaal mission in supporting peace and combating terrorism in Somalia.
The Speaker said Djibouti’s contributions to Somalia would remain firmly in the hearts of the Somali people and be remembered across generations.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two parliaments through the exchange of experience, development of legislative institutions and parliamentary diplomacy.
He concluded by describing Somalia and Djibouti as brotherly nations bound by shared blood, ancestry and history.
