Speaker of the House of the People Meets Parliamentary Finance Committee

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Noor Jama, held a meeting with the House Committee on Finance, Budget, Planning, International Cooperation and Accountability of Government Institutions.

The meeting focused on the committee’s responsibilities, ongoing activities and the progress of legislation under its consideration.

The Chairperson of the Committee, MP Abdi Ibrahim Warsame (Qawdhan), briefed the Speaker on the committee’s structure, working procedures, constitutional mandate and the various stages of the laws and matters currently under its review.

The Speaker commended the committee for its efforts in fulfilling its responsibilities to the nation, urging its members to further strengthen the implementation of their constitutional duties.

He particularly emphasized the importance of effective oversight and accountability of government institutions under the committee’s mandate, as well as safeguarding transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s public finances.

The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary oversight and ensuring responsible management of public resources in line with Somalia’s constitutional framework.
