Southwest State Leader Opens Annual Forum of Regional and District Commissioners

BAIDOA, (SONNA) — The Leader of Southwest State, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, officially opened the Annual Forum of Regional and District Commissioners of Southwest State, held in Baidoa.

The forum brought together ministers, parliamentarians, and regional and district commissioners from Southwest State to discuss strengthening local administration, accelerating public services and enhancing cooperation among government institutions at regional and district levels.

The forum also focused on security, including strengthening cooperation between security institutions and local administrations, improving community security and addressing security threats in Southwest State.

Participants further discussed economic issues, domestic revenue mobilisation, development of basic services and strengthening the capacity and financial resources of local administrations to fulfil their responsibilities to communities.

The forum also addressed preparedness for the impacts of El Niño-related flooding, including prevention and response plans, emergency preparedness and measures to reduce the effects of rainfall and flooding on communities, particularly those living in vulnerable areas.

H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe urged regional and district commissioners to strengthen cooperation, provide effective services to communities and prioritise security, public-service development and preparedness for humanitarian and natural emergencies.

The annual forum also provides an opportunity for regional and district commissioners to exchange administrative experiences and recommendations aimed at strengthening local governance and government services provided to the people of Southwest State.
