Southwest State Leader Meets UN Officials in Mogadishu to Discuss Cooperation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The leader of Somalia’s Southwest State, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, received the Head of the United Nations Political Office in Somalia, Vikram Parekh, and UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Christopher Laker at his residence in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on the overall situation in Southwest State, as well as strengthening cooperation between the Southwest State administration and the United Nations, particularly in the areas of politics, security, reconciliation, development support and humanitarian affairs.

Sheikh Adan thanked the United Nations for its continued support to Somalia, particularly communities in Southwest State, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

The meeting was part of a series of engagements Sheikh Adan has been holding in Mogadishu with senior officials and representatives of various institutions to advance cooperation and promote the interests of the people of Southwest State.

The Southwest State leader was accompanied by his Senior Adviser for Reconciliation Affairs, the Director General of the Presidency and other officials.
